Over the last few weeks here on Intelligent Travel, we introduced you to the 2012 Adventurers of the Year– twelve outstanding athletes with remarkable achievements in exploration, conservation, and adventure sports.

We want to hear from you! Vote for the person you think best embodies the spirit of adventure to win the People’s Choice award. Voting ends this Wednesday, January 18.

Will the winner be…

Adventurer Alastair Humphreys who embarked on a year of microadventures—small, local trips that began and ended at his doorstep– to prove that adventure is accessible to everyone.

Climber Cory Richards who, after becoming the first American to successfully summit an 8,000-meter peak in winter, not only survived an avalanche on the way down, but captured the entire ordeal on film.

Hiker Jennifer Pharr Davis who defied conventional wisdom to break the Appalachian Trail record by 26 hours.

Ultimate descent team Sano Babu Sunuwar and Lakpa Tsheri Sherpa who not only climbed Everest, but paraglided down (setting a new record) and then paddled to the sea.

Mountaineer Gerlinde Kaltenbrunner the first woman to climb all fourteen of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks without supplemental oxygen or porters.

Rider Danny MacAskill whose flips, jumps, and tricks seem to defy gravity.

Skier Nick Waggoner a filmmaker who conducted a grueling human-powered ski survey of South America.

Snowboarder Travis Rice who took the staggering aerial tricks usually reserved for the relative safety of the manicured, avalanche-controlled terrain parks and applied them to the big mountains.

Surfer Carissa Moore the first woman in the modern era to compete in the men's Triple Crown of Surfing, at just 19 years old.

Kayakers Jon Turk and Erik Boomer who circumnavigated all 1,485 miles of Ellesmere Island, the world’s largest island.

You may cast one vote a day through Wednesday, January 18, 2012. We will announce the People’s Choice Adventurer of the Year in February 2012.
